GENERAL INFORMATION/ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is open to all male and female contestants at least five (5) years of age on the day of the competition.  All contestants must be registered members of and in good standing with the United States Judo Association (USJA), United States Judo Federation (USJF), USA Judo (USJI), ATJA or AJJF.

All contestants must present their valid USJA, USJF, ATJA or USA Judo registration card, with acceptable proof of insurance, at the time of registration.  If a contestant is unable to present their valid registration card, he or she will be required to purchase a membership of one of the organizations at the tournament site.  Responsibility for reimbursement of membership fees for those who have previously registered remains that of the individual.

All contestants must be familiar with the sport of Judo and the rules in connection therewith and have sufficient ability to safely compete in the tournament.  Contestants, their parents (in the case of minor contestants), and their instructors have the responsibility of insuring that the contestants meet this requirement.

U.S. 101 (From the North or South)

101 to 280 North (Downtown San Jose).  Exit 280 at 7th St. Turn right on 7th St. to the 7th St. garage.  The Event Center is on the right.

Interstate 280 (From the North)

Exit 280 on 7th St., left 7th St. to the 7th St. garage.  The Event Center is on the right.

Interstate 680 South (From the North)

680 Becomes 280 at U.S. 101.  Exit 280 at 7th St. Turn right on 7th St. to the 7th St. garage.  The Event Center is on the right.

Interstate 880 South (From the North)

880 to 101 South.  101 South to 280 North.  Exit 280 at 7th St., right 7th St. to the 7th St. garage.  The Event Center is on the right.

SJ Mineta International Airport

From terminal, make a right on Airport Blvd.  Airport Blvd. To Coleman Ave.  Coleman Ave. Becomes Market St.  Take Market St. to San Fernando St., left San Fernando to 4th St., and right 4th St. to San Salvador. Left San Salvador to 7th St., and left into garage.  The Event Center is on the right.

PARKING AT SJSU EVENT CENTER

The Event Center is located on the SJSU campus at the end of 7th Street across from the 7th Street Parking Garage. Parking is available at the 7th Street Garage at the upper levels above the permit parking stall levels for a fee ($8.00) paid at the machine if an attendant is unavailable.  Free parking is located at the 4th Street and San Fernando Street Garage approximately 2 blocks from the venue.

Palo Alto Tournament EARLY REG. ENDS 10/31

Palo Alto Judo Tournament registration discount until 10/31, suggested hotels, and 10 early weigh-in locations

Tournament is Sunday November 10th, 2019 at Menlo-Atherton High School with competition starting at 10am in Ayers Gym.  Weigh-ins start as early as 7am on tournament day but you can register, pay and get weighed-in beforehand so you’re better rested for your fight.

Early registration is $40 online, rising to $70 onsite, so we encourage contestants to save by registering early online:

AFTER you register and pay the entry fee electronically, you will get a payment confirmation email that you must PRINT and bring to Weigh-ins together with your valid USJF Card and PRINTED SIGNED COPIES of the attached forms:  Entry Form signed by your Sensei plus Waiver and Release of Liability signed by you/or your parents if you’re a minor.

You can come to Weigh-ins on tournament day (getting up much earlier, standing in line), or you can take advantage of one of the EARLY WEIGH-IN sites, available to anybody that registers and pays electronically in advance:

This premier event is held each December in sunny Southern California at Azusa Pacific University’s Felix Event Center outside of Los Angeles. It was created and is hosted by Goltz Judo and is endorsed by the USJA/USJF Grassroots Judo™ alliance . You can expect to see over 800 competitors from all over the country as well as different parts of the world such as Europe, Asia, South America, even a team from Tahiti! In addition to the national tournament for all age groups and skill levels, clinics are held on coaching, refereeing, kata, and anything pertaining to the study of judo.

Referee’s Meeting: 8:30am All coaches are encouraged to attend the referee’s meeting

Team Eligibility:
● All Team Members must be current paid members of the USJF or USA Judo. A valid
membership card must be presented at the check-in by all members.
● 5 Member Teams – All Divisions
○ Maximum of 5 members – Minimum of 3 members needed to participate
○ In the event that team has less than the 5 members, forfeits will count as a win
for the other team
○ No substitutions are allowed on the day of event
● True double elimination tournament for all divisions
Medals are awarded to all 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place team members!
